Dear Wellness Seeker,
Ageing… the inevitable truth and fate of all living beings. But though our chronological clock is destined to tick ever forward, our cellular clock and biological age can indeed slow down or reverse compared to our birthdate. How can this be achieved?
The process of detoxification, cleansing, and purification assists our cells and organs to process the damage and effects of toxic exposures we encounter on the daily basis and eliminating them. The result? Cellular rejuvenation and repair, allow the body and cells to turn back the clock, function, and appear younger and full of vitality.
The body is a masterful symphony composed of different organs of detoxification. Each organ system has a fundamental role in turning dangerous exposures into a safer way to dispose of waste and toxic products. However, it is the liver, the largest internal organ, that rightfully deserves the title of the master organ of detoxification. It accomplishes this through two phases that efficiently and effectively take toxic compounds and transform them into a different form that is able to be removed from the body without harm.
We begin with Phase 1 known as oxidation, which accepts the toxin and demolishes the toxin into a smaller entity, able to be more easily removed from the body. However, this process of oxidation causes the production of free radicals which are dangerous molecules that can wreak havoc on the body if it stays inside the body for too long and is not disposed of in a timely manner.
What is necessary for Phase 1 to work? It makes sense that to support the process of OXIDATION we would need ANTIOXIDANTS as well. Since oxidation creates damaging free radicals, antioxidants are protective compounds that reduce the effects of free radicals lingering in the body. Antioxidants also act to help activate and promote the Phase 1 enzymes. You might have heard of resveratrol, coenzyme Q10, vitamins A, C, and E, selenium, copper, zinc, and manganese. But citrus foods, strawberries, Brassica vegetables, and bell peppers are also antioxidants that we can incorporate on a day-to-day basis.
Once the free radicals are created, we progress to the even more important step called Phase 2. However, phase 2 requires a bit more effort and support from us to work effectively as there are many more enzymes and processes involved.
How can we invigorate Phase 2 to work more quickly? The key task for Phase 2 is called conjugation and requires 6 different chemical pathways to remove the free radicals from the body and eliminate the toxins. These all use different healthy food groups like dark leafy vegetables, bitters, sulfur-containing foods, colourful fruits, fibre products, and B vitamin grains. Having enough Phase 1 antioxidants and Phase 2 essential compounds ensures that the free radicals can move quickly through the body and get ready to leave without inflicting further damage.
Once the toxin has made its way through Phase 1 and Phase 2, it is ready to exit through the bowel, sweat, or urine.
Fortunately, a stay at Chenot is like having a support system for the liver to work even more effectively to process toxins and allow for cellular repair and reversal of cellular ageing. The Chenot Diet with its fasting-mimicking properties as well as treatments like ozone therapy, intravenous vitamin infusions, and the support of the Chenot Liver Detox Tea are wonderful tools to assist the liver in its hard work.
We look forward to assisting you in the journey towards healthier living, slower ageing, and re-experiencing youth, no matter what age you are.
